What buzzes, the unit or the pan?

I think on this unit, all the hobs are the same size.

I *think* it's the unit buzzing. I'll post a video.

The user's guide says they are all the same 9" size. I do remember seeing a 36" where they were different sizes (7, 8, 9), but I don't remember it that was a Viking or something else.

Viking can't do 3700w on 4 elements at the same time. No one can. And everyone is unlikely to use that unless you're using your home as a popup. But don't try that. Viking cuts your warranty if you do. 2300w-3700w suggests one goes to 3700w and that may limit others to 2300w. The owners manual says nothing. Reliability because of the electronics in an induction cooktop would be a high priority for me. Viking wouldn't be on any list.

They don't claim they can do 3,700W on all four at the same time. They are using power sharing, but supposedly all the elements can do it.

Not worth the lack of reliability if that's all you got.

Gee Bosch's 30" Flexinduction cooktop has 2 zones that can do 3600w and one zone that can do 3700w and without the issues that Viking has. And the difference is Bosch is reliable. I know. I have one.

I realize this is an old thread but it's good to know - I"m looking at the 36 inch version and was concerned about element size as someone posted the elements were only 6 inches. i now have confirmation from 3 sources that they are indeed 9. Have you had any other problems? I'm going to try one out in the showroom to listen to the buzzing.

No additional problems. The cooktop is pretty bad-ass. I like having the flexibility of using whatever element I want for whatever I want.

Johnn - That's so great to know. So many have nothing but bad things to say about the Viking. I'm glad you are not having any problems and like the way it cooks. My guess looking at the photo is that you don't have any problems cooking in a pan that is larger than the 9 inch burner. It also seems you may be using All Clad d3 stainless. How is the performance? Is that why you are hearing the buzzing? I need a new set of pots, but have been struggling as I don't like the All Clad handles. They just aren't comfortable for me. However, AC has come out with a compact line that has different handles that are comfortable for me. I also love the Williams Sonomo Thermo-Clad. People on this site are crazy about the Demeyere. The Atlantis is too heavy for me and the 5plus I didn't think was that great looking. Thoughts?
