fragrant blue???

im not liking it as elegans .... which i did not think bloomed this late ... i thought it was a real early bloomer ... but im not sure this morning ...

since all fragrance comes from plantiginea ... the august lily?? .... now that we are in july ... the fragrant ones are going to start coming along ...

I'll definitely compare it more to fragrant blue, but I thought it had lavender flowers, where as mine are white - totally white, no hint of any color.

It's one of my first bloomers ... I didn't realize this was late. The ones pictured are the only two blooming ... the possible Blue Cadet should be opening soon, and then I have a bunch scattered around the yard which are budding but probably a week or so out from blooming (mostly giant undulata, with some more nicer unknowns). We did have a very cold march, though, so that might be part of the delay.

back in the day .. my elegans.. bloomed pretty reliably.. the last week of may ... and the flowers were just barely above the leaves... if not under ...

but that was a mature plant.. and yours is pretty young ....and next year.. the leaves could bury the flowers if they remain that height ....

but then.. there is the fact that who knows who has the real and original elegans .... in the way back machine. they thought they came true from seed ... etc.. etc ....

perhaps in 2 to 4 years.. it will mature enough to really tell what it is .... maybe i will be found wrong ....

Last year there were suggestions of either Venusta or Hosta minor for that one, but nothing was definite.

Golden tiara grows like a weed here. I have four epimedium, love them, they grow in dry shade woderfully. Mine are growing at the base of a huge blue spruce. I give mine extra water occasionally with a soaker hose.
