Help me with chaise positioning

I think I picked the wrong side chaise. It’s not interchangeable but I included both pics to give and idea of what it would look like as I can return for the mirror image. Thus the pics are just to give an idea. The first is my layout and the second is what I think it should be. I don’t like walking around my chaise to sit down but I will let the designers decide.

Please let let me know what you think. The camera is at the place of entry into the room.

I’m always amazed when a poster of a dilemma asks a specific question, but answers critique the poster’s choice! You asked which side should the chaise go, not whether it was the right sofa for the room or any other question. So, in response to your question, I would say it depends on how you want to use the space. Putting it on the other side would impede the view out the window/sliding door or whatever that is. Keeping it as is presents a walking around it problem. I would vote to keep it as is and get used to walking around it, so that the window view is preserved. It looks like a great spot to take a nap. Good luck with your decision!

No to the second pic!! And you should have measured, and know too that this chaise type sectional is among the most LIMITING in room arrangement and function, ever conceived. Your IS about the worst. Out of scale to the entire piece, it required another two single seats to look remotely decent and probably a larger room too. . Sorry I don't have better news, and you need a small ROUND cocktail table, if any. JUST WAH and so sorry.

If you want the fix, consult a good upholsterer, and consider cutting the chaise to sofa DEPTH. Literally lop off the "offender". Or sell the whole thing and start OVER.

I think your left side chaise is correct layout. I assume you would sit and look outside? More pictures would be helpful. It is large sectional for that room for sure.
we went with large sectional also, but I think our room is slightly bigger.

From the pic you shared, it seems either way could work. What is to the left of the current arrangement - is there another room? If so, pictures at additional room angles would help

Although Jan Mayer’s comments are a bit harshly stated, I tend to agree. The chaise lounge thing has its place in the world but it is, on the whole, overdone. Rare is the room where it fits appropriately, and commonly, the chaise section is an intrusion, like a Volkswagen parked in the living room, and one is forever negotiating around it. In this case, the chaise appears extremely deep, only making it tougher to work with (although that just may be the way Houzz posts photos—they get stretched for some reason).

It’s hard to tell without seeing what’s on the other side the of current chaise positioning. That said to open up the room a bit I would probably move it to the other side. Also don’t listen to the extreme negative reviews about the style of the couch. You asked about position not about the style of couch. I think if you swap sides and then decorate you’ll be fine and it will look great.

The way you have it set up seems to be the best of the two. That being said

I do find it rather bulky and wide compared to other models. Who is going to sit on it back to back. That being said, do you think you would lay down on it, I don't think so. S

Agree with you that you don't want to walk around the chaise to get to a seat. Can you exchange all together? Maybe for a sofa that has a lazy-boy style pull-up instead so it's not sticking out all the time.

The problem with sectionals is that you have no flexibility in the arrangement. The second photo will not work...two adjacent arms. If you bought a sofa or two and two chairs, you would have many options for arranging them.

Felizlady, this was just a representation of what the reverse would look like, the arms would be reversed. I just wanted to show an idea of the reverse model that I would order.

It's hard to tell without viewing the whole room. Is it possible to take a photo of the whole room? What is on the left side of the chaise, as it is pictured on your first photo.

We have a sectional, with the chaise in the corner of the room and use a (matching) ottoman to fill in the right angle, to lounge in, when watching tv, reading, listening to music, or for our young grandchildren to snuggle up in, when they're here.
