Why are you planning to prune a plant that young? Let it grow a bit and build up some reserves for a year or two first.

Just thought appropriate Pruning encouraged new shoots and a fuller Rhododendron.

Dont want to end up with a stringy Shrub..

I do take on board your advice about (Building up some Reserves for the Rhododendron).Particularly with it being such a young Example

I Guess its always wiser to ask.

If you decide once it has a year or two of growth on it that you don’t like the shape, they do regrow from dormant buds on the stems, so they aren’t like some plants that don’t do well wih hard pruning.

Are you planning to plant this in the ground or keeping it in a pot? The soil needs to be acid and well-drained.

I do plan on leaving this and many other young Rhododendrons in Containers

I have been using JOHN INNES No2 and have fed all the the Shrubs with VITAX RHODODENDRON & AZALEA Pellets

All look healthy..I keep checking them daily and keep the potting Mix Watered..

On watering the water disappeared quickly into the potting mix..

I have been making sure the Rhododendrons are partially shaded specifically at the moment as here in the UK we have had a very dry & hot spell for around 3 weeks with barely sign of any rain..

Hose pipe bans seem imminent

Any additional advice would be hugely appreciated

Different varieties of rhodendrons do have somewhat different growth patterns and needs. What we see in the photographs suggests that this one may require more light than it is receiving. The newest growth is somewhat long and willowy as if it were searching for more intense light. This may, however, be the natural growth pattern of Ameythist, a variety I am not at all familiar with and which seems to be pretty unknown in North America. One of the UK Ameythist's parents seems to be the species r. russatum which is a very hardy small leaved type that grows in open sunny areas. Since you intend to grow your plant in a container, perhaps pruning one branch back to see if that produces denser growth would be a good option. Keep in mind, though, that producing new soft growth too late in the season can leave the new growth vulnerable to winter damage.
