Please Help! Finishing project!

I am having regrets of my purchases. New sectional, leather recliner, dining chairs and art above sofa and mantle. I hired a designer but it did not work out. She suggested new art and new rug in dining room. My exterior is rustic and will not paint trim or fireplace. This is my 1st post and love how everyone is sooo friendly and helpful! Note: I am computer challenged. Need ideas in making this space beautiful

I really like the beige and blue floral rug you picked for your dining room. For the living room, I think if you buy a plain PB bound sisal rug, replaced your light fixture, and set up the room with your existing furniture (sectional, leather and swivel) you will like it. I'd try that before buying any new chairs. See how you like the arrangement with two chairs and the sectional before you buy more furniture....? Also your existing furniture is neutral. I really think it is the rug that is throwing you off.

    Hey Cindy just checking in..

My husband broke the 43 inch tv and mounted the 46 inch while I was out of town. The height of table is 31 and tv is 10 in off of table. The height of tv is 27 so middle would be 13 1/2. Which puts tv 55 to the middle. Should I move it down, discard it? I’m just sick!

Hi Cindy...was worried about you...hope all is well! I was out of town too...just returned Sunday night..

Oh boy..that is a shame!..yes it should be lower and that TV is making that area look top heavy..darn...what was he thinking;/ I would think about getting the stools for under the console..it will help ground that console and help it be a bit more balanced if that TV is staying.....

HIWE I am waiting for my bestie to come back into town to TRY to return tv. I want to purchase 2 chairs so I can put recliner downstairs. Not sure what type of chairs would look best. Saw these 2 today. Are they toooo much! Not in price but style? They r 34h. 32 d. And 32w. I think what I like is I have so much green to use for a accent color.

Hey Cindy....I don’t think that green will work..just to dark IMO

Was thinking that too! What style chairs would look good?

online...depending on the quality level the tufted chair is very inexpensive but it is a nice style for your room...we Can find similar in a higher quality..the French arm chair is my favorite...it is a classic style that works well with all design styles.

I think the tufted chair in a better quality. I love the other too but maybe for my bedroom.

What stores are in your area?

Furnitureland South, haverty,Boyle’s, pottery barn. A lot of brand outlet. Hickory market
  • 7 years ago
Furniture land is my favorite. I assume I need matching chairs. If 2 complimented each other would that be ok. The prices shown are not the actual prices. I saved 35% when I ordered the 2 tables.

I think it is nice. The only thing I would do right now is remove some of those lamps. you only need one at end table to sofa. Behind chair near fireplace, thats fine. And one on table near other chair. But, I would find more thinner lamps. Maybe go with rod iron, more airy. Those take up too much space and condense your room.

Matching chairs would be nice..I would shoot for that...consider a light blue fabric it would be very pretty with your furniture and we could add a rug that would introduce a bit of blue to the mix...Uttermost had one let me check the size....might be to deep....have you decided on your layout? Will the chairs be in front of the window?

Found these from FLS...blue very nice cottage style...love the fabric...

Cindy. I like many of the chairs HIWE found but I’m really drawn to the light blue ones. So pretty. How do you plan to use them. For social activities or watching TV. If you are planning to keep the chairs in front of the window, definitely matching chairs IMO. See, the minute your back was turned, hubby struck! LOL. MEN!

    Hey Cindy....how’s it going

Shopped today and I think I found some chairs. Don’t like the pillows but found a fabric that would work. On sale so I can’t change fabric on chairs but it is performance fabric. What do you think? They are swivel chairs and there is two! I haven’t showed them to my husband yet. I might like a bigger size pillow.

Swivel chairs to be delivered tomorrow. I went fabric shopping and found the fabric I loved. I brought home the book and some swatches for the dining chairs. This fabric is so close to what I already have. The fabric is called lagoon by Kaufmann. This not the one for swivel pillow but the next one in the book. I just feel like there something better!

Love how things are going for you and your design project!

Ok notice the fabrics you chose. The fabric is mine on the chair bottoms. So similar. But how should I do the backs and fronts of backs. Should I do like attached or use my existing bottom and do something different

I think a leather lumbar in a tan would look great on the swivel chairs..or the same color as the sofa with some trim on them...like this..love gold Greek key..

Ok. I’m going to see when the chairs come if I need to make the pillow larger. I can use the my swivel chair pillow as a template. Also good news. They took the broken tv back and will come next week to properly install it . I know my hubby won’t like it but......

What should I be looking for with a rug? I want calming if that makes sense
  • 7 years ago
Hi Cindy. Thanks so much for your nice comment about idea books. Years of shopping. I don’t know why you’re changing the dining chairs. I like the striped fabric on fronts and backs. What I would change is the grey seat fabric to one that picks up a blue in the stripes. Unless I’m completely out to lunch with your plan. I’ll wait and see what you decide. Nice progress so far.
