Looks like pine to me (?). You could always paint or stain it if the color bothers you . Off the subject, I offer an unsolicited comment : your television looks like it’s mounted too high & it would be nice to hide any wires.

You are probably correct about the wood being pine. Someone did mention to me that I could paint it, but I do not know what color I would use. Also I appreciate your comment about the TV, but when the technician put the bar in to hang the TV I would have to have him come back and move it, and that would be an extra cost. How far should the bottom of the TV be from the console? Is there some kind of rule about it that I am unaware of? Also, there are no mirrors in the room so I was not clear about the suggestion to hide any mirrors. Thank you for your comments.

I would paint the cocktail table to match the sofas, a warm cream color, and then stage the cocktail table.

I would paint the table. Probably go full on Maine Cottage http://www.mainecottage.com/bay-coffee-table?paint-color=23 and make it green or porch or periwinkle or bermuda sand or....anything but 'dark'.

Painting the table would be a great option; however, if time permits and if you are up to it, how about reupholstering the table with a beautiful burgundy & white, or multi-colored fabric? That would really compliment your cozy space. It would also create a great contrast against your area rug. It could serve as a focal point as well.

Paint the table and lower the T.V

I like your table...yes, paint it. Definitely lower the TV...no more than 5" or 6" above the console. You want it to be a comfortable viewing height, and be visually part of the console...vs floating up high on the wall. Sorry...same with the art over your sofa...lower.

I think the pine table is too heavy looking for the space. There are a lot of rectangles and squares going on in this space so a round glass coffee table would visually make it more interesting and lighter feeling.

The rug may be ok if the pillows are changed out. I think the red ones are the issue with your wall color. Can you post a photo without the red pillows.

What color are you lamps?
