Gas to induction? Help!

Hi - I know this has been the topic of a few older forum posts, but I would really like to hear just from people who deliberately switched from gas to induction (or the reverse) and how it worked out for them? I have always used gas and really like the function and aesthetics of it. However, with everything I have read about induction lately, it seems like there are a few real advantages over gas and no real downsides (I have already checked all of my cookware and only have one saucepan that wouldn't work). We have gutted the kitchen of a new home and there is an existing gas line in the correct location, so the traditionalist in me sort of feels like switching would be crazy, but I'm really intrigued by the potential advantages of induction, not to mention the ease of clean up. I am SO tired of delicately cleaning my gas range in an attempt to get all the black gunk off without scratching the stainless, which scratches anyhow. Also, if you switched to induction, did you install, or do you need, a vent hood? Thanks!
