Not to give you more things to worry about, but have you confirmed that the blacks match between the two tiles? The photos look like they don't, but of course photos of color online can be very deceiving, so you'd have to see the tiles together to really know.

Yeh, that chevron is a black travertine, not marble. The floor tile is a black nero marquina.

Deciding on shower floor, walls and backsplash tiles is a daunting task indeed. Despite having the luxury of designing and visualizing everything in 3-D, it took us literally months to finalize selections for the number of bathrooms we have. I suggest you consider several options, look at various photos and combos before finalizing, it is not something you want to regret later.

Why don't you tell your designer, exactly what you just told us? There's a reason they call these business agreements ..............relationships. : ) Speak.

"Ms, Designer. I love my floor, but I'm not feeling my wow yet with the rest? Is there something else you can suggest?"

Maybe you add.......... "I want a bit of ( fill in the blank) , but I don't want Deco glitz",

Or......."It feels rather dark to me, and while I love the floor I don't want the entire bath dark.....

Whatever it it is, speak up. That is why you HAVE her.

PS......Your bath saves in your idea book seem to suggest a clean mid cen modern feel with a touch of industial accent.............so. What is the final feel you WANT? I't more than just one tile. it is the sum of parts. Go back to your idea book and edit, and show her what you love and why you saved......

Note, two different marbles rarely if ever, mix well. Just an fyi. And after a glance at your idea books, not sure why you have a white shaker vanity either : )

That's good feedback though about not mixing marbles. I wasn't sure. I also appreciate the reminder to look at my lookbooks - I do like that real wood combined with dark and light tiles. I'm going to mention switching to a real wood - I'm using Kraftmaid cabinets so maybe oak or hickory.

I am a bit confused - what will you use on the bathroom floors (not shower floors).

I think the black tiles are gorgeous but I am not sure I would want black floor tiles because dark floors would seem to be high maintenance - any bit of dust; makeup etc. would really show up just as dark wood floors are higher maintenance.

That said, I am opting for marble floors and counters in my bathrooms so I can understanding willing to put up with higher maintenance products because you like them more than any alternative you've seen :-)

Yeh, the black Amulet tile is for the bathroom floor. I've had white tiles for floors and those are just as bad and show everything. And I"m not a fan of mid-tone neutral colors - I prefer higher contrasting colors.

I'm leaning away from the Calacatta Gold hearing that mixing marbles doesn't always work - I actually would be fine just doing a simple clean white subway and letting the black tiles be the star.

The thing I didn't like about original suggestion of the white glass was how glossy that tile is - we'll see what she comes back with.

Hopefully, you've also considered the practicality of this within your tolerance for maintenance. Black isn't very forgiving- shows everything. Dust, hair, water spots. Just be prepared to really swab that deck, at least every other day. The chevron for the shower is cool, but ditto on the grout.

I admit to being a bit of a freak about this stuff, at this stage of my life. Not everybody is like that.

In terms of maintenance, I am probably projecting my bathroom messes as I might have bath powder or other light stuff and is more disturbing against a black background. I wasn't writing about actual cleanliness of the floors. White tiles in a kitchen are impossible as they are completely unforgiving in terms of any kind of stuff tracked in but - at least in my experience - that is less of an issue in a white bathroom which doesn't experience tracking grit or food or grease.

I did make the mistake of installing a black kitchen sink and it was extremely unforgiving in terms of water spots unless I literally dried every time I used it.

I've had white bathroom floor tiles - and found I needed to wipe them down maybe every 3-4 days to keep them clean. But it wasn't too tough w/ a towel. This is a master bath that will not be used by any women - so no makeup, no baby powder or things of that nature. I actually think the black will be easier than the white tile - and again - I'm not interested in a medium tone or color patterned tile which probably would hide most stuff pretty well.

I like everything shes put together, but the fixtures. I think with going with brushed brass finishes on your hardware will give the room a more luxurious feel and finish.

That tile is amazing. Brass, yes. What about a matte white or ivory tile? I'll just be an echo to say, take your time with your choices. There are some interesting contrasts in the space I'm linking, but I also thought the vanity was beautiful. Antique wood of some sort would add a unique eclectic look.
