help with indoor wall planter

I have an L shape indoor wall planter that's facing entry doors and living room. I want to replace it with built in cabinet about the same height (42") and floating shelves on top. Our interior style is traditional/transitional. Any suggestion, ideas or pictures of what the cabinet should look like?

Do you know what is behind that wall? You will need to be mindful of the flooring too. How deep is it? Lots of questions?

Yeah, it looks like new flooring. Too bad the planter wasn't removed before the new floor went in.

Paint it.

Add potted plants. Some tall, some trailing vines.

The cabinets might work but make sure you're not replacing one odd thing with another. Would this be the right spot for cabinets near the entry?

Not sold that this would be the best place for cabinets, but I'd try to match whatever style is in your kitchen. Or go with simple shaker cabinets.

I’m guessing this goes with the style of the house. We had one too although in a sunroom we converted to an all season room. We left the brick and added a top to it. Looks like it belongs there now.

I would choose a wood finish without detail. Something in medium tones. The photo has a mid-century vibe.

@Flo Mangan: the planter is 18" deep. Behind those walls are the pantry, which hopefully should not have any water lines or ventilation duct.

You could dry wall over the brick, put a nice wood countertop and add open shelving or like in pic. To display objects, nice with lights. Or you could use it like a drinks bar. Mirror behind shelves would look good and make it feel more open
