Darn, it only posted one picture. Here is the less attractive one with all the vines spread out.

What I would do is make cuttings from the good stems and put in a new pot with fresh soil. Shouldn’t take long to root right now. Just my thoughts on this.

Those healthy vines must have a good root system. I would just clean it up and repot. Either way, it will be fine. Pubicalyx is a trooper.

The growth that's there looks healthy, so I'd salvage the root system and just remove any dead stems. Be sure to post back when you finish the project. All the pubs grow like mad, so you'll have a huge plant in no time. Mine, which is a restart from my oldest and biggest, is now already (after about 3 years) 3' tall, 2' wide...

Thanks all for the advice. I ended up restarting it. I tried doing a root wash, but it was such a mess and so root bound. The pot has no drainage. I decided the best option was to repot since pubicalyx seems to be so hearty. I'll keep you posted!
