A nice beginning! The yellow will most likely have a small rebloom in the fall.

Looks like the small yellows probably are Stella D'oro judging by the color of yellow on the bloom , But of course images can be deceiving . If it really is a pale yellow and not the deep yellow I am seeing in the image ( and if there is continuous bloom ) It could also be Happy Returns ( Stella is a deeper yellow with continuous bloom ).

Would love to see a close up of the tall bloom . The plant itself looks great , Nice strong tall scapes.

I agree with signet about the short yellow ones. If they are more of a gold, they're probably Stella d'Oro. If they are lemon yellow, they are likely Happy Returns.

Yes, very deep rich yellow hue.

I would be nice if they were continuous blooming, I don't remember if they bloomed like that before I moved them.

The tall bloom is a little past prime and beat up from rain last night. They seem to close at night, is that why they call them "day lilies"?

The highly visible location is between my drive way and my neighbors (asphalt in top pic). When the house was rebuilt, I heard the builders drove heavy equipment and trucks over the ring planting many times while construction was under way.

They establish fast after transplant, I ran across this picture this morning, taken late last August 2017 right after I moved the ring.

Blooms only last a day.

Here's what's growing on the South and East side of the house, these too were here when we came. I never knew there were so many cultivars of 'Daylilies'.

They're just starting this week.

Hard to tell from your images but It looks like your orange dayliies have 2 layers of petals . If they do the would be Fulva Kwanza which is a double

If there is only one layer of petals it is Fulva Europa and if there is 3 layers of petals you have Fulva Kwaza Flore Pleno .

Bill: Welcome to daylilies. If you really get into them, you will want to know the terms. Daylilies do not grow from bulbs, but from tuberous roots. Each plant in a clump is referred to a fan. That red one is nice. I like the velvety texture.

I stand corrected! First thing I thought of was 'bulb' when I saw what was underneath the plants. The other day I learned "Daylilies" are not "Lilies" so I'm moving forward. :-))

Today the Orange ones almost look like 3 separate sets of petals. Stacked inside of each other like paper cups, except each set of petals gets smaller toward the inside. The inside set is sometimes only 1 or 2 petals. nbd, pretty all the same. :-)

Yes, it is to my eyes also - maroon. Wives are almost always right about such things (LOL). You may discover that many colors described in other climates as purple/pink/red etc. show up differently in yours. It's such fun to add to your collection to see what turns up. With that maroon you've got a really good start. Check out a specialty daylily catalog sometime to really get your enthusiasm pumped and see beyond what the box stores carry............Maryl

Does one have to remove the 'spent' flower stalks or seed stalks from the plant, or anything else, in order for them to keep them blooming? I see when the flower dies the stalk remains but will it send up new flower stems?

Thanks! Looks like all the same type of plant on both sides of the house. The flower wasn't fully extended in my first pictures as they are just getting going.

The yellow ones must have been Stella D'Oro, Still blooming long after the middle blooms played out. The middle one did have quite a few and just finished it's last one the other day.

Bill - Some daylilies rebloom, and others do not. Stella d'Oro is one that reblooms well. Your purple/maroon dayliliy may be one that has only one set of scapes, or it may take it time to establish and rebloom in it's new place. Since we don't have an ID on it, we can't tell if it's a rebloomer.

The middle unnamed one had eight or so bloom buds(?) on each of the two scapes(?). And each bloom happened one at a time, one would bloom, then before it shriveled the next would bloom and so on so there was quite a display for over a month. Whoever set this one up in the first place must have known their daylilies. :-)

Putting on another show this year. It's already beginning to show signs of outgrowing this sized spot. It's still a lot better than when I dug it and moved it.

The red could actually be Ruby Grandeur, but since you have no idea where this person ordered from, it adds to the difficulty of an ID. It does have the great branching and substance of RG.
