Of those 2 choices, I'd say 95", as well, but you can hang the rod a bit higher and search for 100" draperies, or buy the longer ones and hem or have them hemmed to the proper length. I think Etsy is a good place to find custom lengths.

Thanks! There's a (currently unfurnished) formal living area adjacent to it that has a normal size ceiling and window and will one day have curtains. Probably makes sense to hang the curtain rods at the same height.

I would leave the squares the color they are, and hang curtains at 95". You want curtains in that room not just to soften the space, but also to bring the dimensions of the room back down to a more human scale.

I wouldn't paint the squares the trim color because that would just accentuate them more, and that goes against any efforts to minimize the overscale details of the room.
