Dividing Miscanthus sinensis

My miscanthus should have been divided a couple years ago and the center discarded. Unfortunately, I kept putting it off and paid the price this year. I had huge center die back on just about all of them. I tried hacking away the dead centers but didn't do early enough in the season. I still have some live growth and they look okay. If I divide what's still living next spring will that be enough to rejuvenate the plant or should I replace them? Thank you.
