Agreed with a comprehensive landscape plan in order to realize the full potential of the curb appeal.

I would but a full scale front landscape plan together from an outdoor living designer. It's a great way to start.

We are more of DIYers and probably won't get it professionally done, I like the idea of shrubs and trees. Need some things that will last through new England winters.

I can see a row of Annabelle Hydrangeas across the porch area. One important tip for planting shrubs and small trees: always pay attention to the width of mature shrubs and allow enough space between them to avoid crowding. Also, plant shrubs far enough out from the house that you still have a 1 to 2 feet of space between the shrubs and the house. Nothing worse than having shrubs looking like they are growing out of the house foundation.
