It looks like a standard 2018 suburban house. You can decorate it with any colors, furniture, or decor. Are you really asking us such a broad question with very little background on what you like or dislike?

Do you have any furniture now?

If you really have no idea how to decorate the space, then you should consider finding an interior designer or decorator to help you come up with a plan.

We think keeping to a lighter rug and sofa/sectional might be better, however you could go dark with the accent chair. Here is a design of ours that might help with ideas for furniture colors.

Why don't you try to draw up a floor plan with approximate sizes? That will give folks more to work with.

I would say though, start with a rug for the living room. (You don't need one for the dining room.) That will give you colors to work with. Someone here recommended USARugs.com and I used overstock.com to find a great rug for my den. Of course you can go to local rug stores. They can have knowledgeable people who with help you get the right size.

The only thing that hits me as off is the brown painted banister and baseboards. I would paint them white. Is the trim around the windows the same or stained wood? If it is the same, I'd paint them too. If it is stained wood, I'd leave it.

You should pick the furniture before deciding on paint for the walls.

Start with a sofa. Solid color. I would warn you against getting a sofa and the dreaded matching love seat.

A sofa and two chairs is a good combo. There are lots of ways to place these 3 pieces.
