small changes / huge impact!

it'll be a looong time before we even think about major bath remodel. I needed some quick low budget solutions. for the larger bath, I changed paint, cabinet hardware, linens, lights. I can't believe what a difference it made! the color changes even made my granite countertop somewhat better (I've never been a granite fan).

by the way, that vessel sink sucks. it's cute, but SO much water gets splashed on the mirror. ugh.

for the smaller bathroom, I HATE the shower tile, but painting the walls teal and modernizing the other stuff went a long way. not sure how I feel about the textured wallpaper, but literally everybody that came over said they loved it so I decided to keep it. (I know you're not supposed to paint wallpaper, but this was already painted before so...)

That is awesome! I can't tell, in the first bathroom, how much of the change to the look of the granite was changing the lighting (maybe higher color temperature lamps) vs. changing the wall color (the old yellow would have reflected a bit on everything). Either way, amazing change for the money and time invested.

The textured wallpaper may have been designed to be painted; a lot of textured wallpapers are. The new wall color is great.

@cawaps the lighting absolutely made a difference! original lighting was two dim 2700K CF bulbs. replaced them with four GE Reveal LEDs, which have an almost imperceptible pink tint. much brighter, but the pinkish note makes it less harsh and very flattering for a vanity.

the old paint color was an obnoxious bright peach. replaced it with a clean neutral white.

that, plus grey towels, rugs, etc, worked together to tone down the brown in the granite. but even when the lights are off, the granite looks better! those peach walls were throwing a lot of color.
