We just bought a home that is generally in great shape and in our ideal location. It was built in 1954 and most areas of the home were updated about 20 years ago (the kitchen and basement much more recently, they look great).

Here's the challenge: we love modern/contemporary design. The kitchen and basement are already modern enough, but the rest of the house isn't. Our goal is to open the door and have a completely modern look and feel throughout the home.

The main things we want to change are:

Complete renovation of 1.5 baths
New or significantly refinished floors
Doors (interior and exterior)
All trim (baseboards, windows, doors, etc.)
Repair and paint walls
Stairs

Fortunately, we shouldn't need to do any additions or wall moves.

Basically, I just don't know who we should hire to come out and make sure that, when the project is done, the home looks modern throughout. I don't want a hodge-podge look.
