Hey all,

I just bought my first home last year and am starting to address the previous owners' lawn negligence. As you can see, the majority of the "lawn" consists of weeds, bare spots, and sunken/raised areas. I've been watering on a timer at 10m every 12 hours, but from reading other threads I've already changed the timer to 30m every 3 days (until my cats eat enough wet food to get my rain gauges) and I've raised my mower to the highest setting. I've tried some weed and feed product, some hose-spray crabgrass killer, and some Round-up (hand sprayed - very tiring), but I haven't reached my desired results.

I think I'm dealing with some white clover, ground ivy, and tall fescue infestations, but I'm open to other interpretations. I'm fairly certain my soil is both compacted and in desperate need of organic material. I know some people on here swear against aeration, but how else do you deal with compaction issues?

I *THINK* my order of operations are:

1) wait until mid-August, apply organic fertilizer

2) 1-2 weeks later, apply broadleaf general liquid herbicide.

3) 1-2 weeks later, reapply liquid herbicide

4) 1-2 weeks later, spot-treat remaining weeds

5) 1-2 weeks later, aerate/topdress/seed. switch back to watering 10m every 12hr

Does that sound like a reasonable approach? Please impart your unending wisdom upon me, dearest internet.
