That is great Bea! My fig season is almost over but I sun dried most of them to enjoy them later when not in season.

After visiting many countries, I have to agree with you that Greece is one of the best places for good food!

I came home with the best olives, spices, nuts, and of course those dried white figs, they were delicious!

And I am very proud to tell you, that I can pass any test on fresh produce anywhere, anytime.:)

Bea, that's wonderful! My across-the-street neighbor, Frank, used to share his figs with me before he left for greener pastures. I miss him... and his figs.

Very often I have people in the farmers market or the stores asking me questions about, what is that? how do you eat it?

When I go traveling, the first place that I go are the produce markets, it is always a treat for my eyes and palate to see all the different fruits and veggies.

Congratulations! I have one fig coming out on my Marseilles VS (black fig), so I'm letting it grow. My fig trees have already started getting fig rust with all this rain, so I figured I'd just let it go to town. It's sort of stopped growing right now, and the Settlers fig is growing like crazy. I want the Settler's fig to keep growing and put on some fruit before I have to leave it.

Bea, what kind of fig tree do you have and did you plant it? How old is it? Do you have more figs on your tree?... are there more treats to come?

Silvia, that was one of my dumb jokes... I don't think they ever had a produce version but if they did, you would win. Nobody knows that stuff better than you!

Congrats bea that is wonderful. My fig season is over we ate them all. However one of the new trees I just put in is a later season LSU purple so it will extend my season soon.

Carol it's a Brown Turkey. We bought it vecause it is the hardiest fir northern climates.

I bought it about 15 years ago when we lived up north and it luved in a pit until 5 years ago when we moved here. I planted it twice on this property because the first spot proved not to get enough sun.

So I moved it a year ago last spring and I had hoped to get a nice crop of figs this year but there only one other fig but it's not quite ready to eat. It's seems very happy and has grown to about 5-6 feet across and a giid 5 feet tall.

Deb I gave it Epsom salts again this spring when some leaves started turning yellow like last year. It did the trick!

so why am not getting a crop of figs? Maybe Brown Turkey doesn't do well down here? Oh, well if that's the reason it's ok. It's staying! If I get a few figs each year I'll be happy!

Congratulations on your figs! About 3-4 years ago I planted an LSU Purple fig tree in a pot. Some complain that these figs don't taste good - but after a couple years I thought they were fine. Funny thing - this tree produces figs nearly year round- until this June! I saw figs in the store last week, and though the tree quit fruiting weeks ago, I wasn't even tempted to buy them. We've had so many figs - I can't even think about them!
