pachhu - there are so many varieties which vary only slightly that it would be hard to tell from just a leaf pic. Looks like a healthy plant.

Thanks Bluemoonlight & eboone_gw. I am in Pacific Northwest Zone 8. I got this as a cutting from ebay and he said it is an Italian fig and that's all. Just eager. This is the first year I am seeing the figs. Will send more photos when ripe. Thanks

There is a good chance that you will not be able to narrow it down farther than being an Italian fig, assuming it actually has the traits of an Italian fig, something I do not know off hand. Identifying a fig of unknown origin is much like identifying the breed of a dog based on looks alone, is it pure bred, or mix, if a mix what is its parentage.

I live in south Louisiana on the 8b/9a line where there are many un-named varieties of figs grown that were brought to the area hundreds of years ago, LSU also had an active fig breeding program with many releases over the last 50 years, though it is now mostly inactive with the last release 15-20 years ago. During the years this program was active in addition to the many officially released named variants there were also many unoffical test variants that found there way into people back yards. As a result of all this trying to discern the type of fig growing on an old family homestead around here is anyones guess.

kvetchlambkin, that fig is called Col de Dame Blanc it is a excellent fig very dark red inside.
