Dead or Alive? Should I prune?

I have a question about 2 Indian Hawthorns. The first pic I just transplanted-it’s looking pretty dead. Should I go ahead and dig it up or give it a chance?

In the 2nd pic, am I suppose to cut off the flowers that have already bloomed? None of my other Indian Hawthorns look like this. Or do I just leave it alone?

Dry and crispy = dead. These shrubs are not normally dead-headed, the flowers instead being left to produce berries. What are you seeing that is different about the one specimen?
