I've never had problems with snails doing much damage to waterlily leaves but there are some species of tadpole that will.

Thanks tropicbreeze. I think there are some tadpoles in there. Maybe if I moved some of my duckweed from the other stock tank water gardens, they'd eat that instead? I think I'll do that. Can't hurt. Thanks!

These were the culprits in one of my ponds, Litoria rothii. They stripped all the plants not just waterlilies. Ended up having to feed them with lettuce until they morphed as they'd cleaned out anything that was green. It was bought lettuce so first washed it in case of chemical contaminants. But Duck Weed might work well.

I had to look that little guy up, Tropicbreeze. The literature called it a laughing frog. Does it really sound like laughing? Seems like the different frogs can have quite unusual calls. One frog was said by someone here that it sounded like a woman screaming. I sure wish I had more variety in frogs around here. I'd much rather hear frogs than human sounds....no matter how scary or weird. :)

Here's where the tree frogs occasionally like to rest.... just some pvc pipe. I first found them when I was using the pipe to fertilize the lotus bog with. Quite a surprise when this little guy jumped out. I'm glad he was okay. I've learned to check the pipes before I use them now.

And then I caught him racing around on one of my son's hot wheels. :)

Like the one on the racing car, but you're going to have to insist it wears a helmet and uses the seat belt, can't have them driving irresponsibly, LOL. I've got a photo of one of mine checking out my weather station console. And I always thought they had their own way of forecasting weather. They like getting into hollow pipes for the acoustics. It makes quite a difference, especially if you're trying to get to sleep.

The Northern Laughing Frogs (or Roths Tree Frog) are really great. They'll be all through the trees so as you walk through the garden at night they're laughing/cackling away all around and above. I'll email you a sound file of them calling (MP3 file).

Hey tropicbreezent.........I moved a lot of duckweed from another stock tank and put it in with the waterlily, and all the waterlily pads became healthy again! I guess tadpoles prefer duckweed. Good to know! Thanks for the tip.
