Mexican Magic is one of the few Maryotts that do well here. It is distinctive and did bloom on good scapes this year. It has had some issues in the past and maybe will have more if the winters aren't amenable, but it adds distinction to the garden. Subspace Frequency was never a good bloomer here, and the blooms lacked substance for this climate.

Glad you got rain, Julia. My favorites of these are Jamie Dockery and your seedling. The seedling has interesting colors of the eye and throat.

I have always liked the way Mexican Magic looks, but hesitated because Maryotts daylilies don't always do well for me. Sounds like it does well for several of you though

Mantis: I bought a few Maryotts a couple of years ago when he sold to Schreiner. The two best are Bach Contata and Best In Class. BC won (tie) People's Choice Award at the Columbus Show. BIC is putting up some strong rebloom scapes.

Mexican Magic looks really nice in your picture. Like the color combination. Jamie Dockery would be my second choice...............Maryl
