A few questions. Are you planning to keep everything in the bathroom that’s currently there? Tile floors, cabinets? Is your shower door tinted light blue? (It appears that way on my monitor.) Is the inside window trim staying a natural wood tone or will you be painting it? Are you looking for color advice or whole bathroom remodeling suggestions?

Haha, all of the previous colours were "poopy" - I've called it that since we've been here! Thank GOODNESS we're finally changing!

The door has a very slight tint when looking at it from that particular angle - otherwise it's fairly clear.

At this point we're looking to mainly paint and decorate, we're not looking to retile or redo the counters or cabinets at this point - unless we get some VERY good inspiration that can get me to convince my hubby ;)

Also we're likely keeping the wood trim inside the windows - they're the same all over the house.

It appears you have an outer room with a shower only and a full bath w/bathtub beyond a French door?

I'm not usually a fan of painting real wood in good condition -- usually prefer the wood finish -- however, that dark wood in the middle of your extended bath is a contrast that stands out, especially since your vanity and mirror and overhead shelving are painted a dark color rather than the same wood..

If having a door between shower and the rest of the bathroom works for you, consider painting it white like the main bathroom door and wood trim; alternately, repurpose the wood door and replace it with a white one.

Then seriously consider repainting all your dark painted wood something lighter ... not any shade of white or cream. Consider painting your walls and cabinets two shades of the same color:

-- maybe a shade of blue that will work with the flooring but different from the shade of blue you paitn the walls; alternately

--maybe a shade of green that will work with the flooring but different from the shade of green you paint your walls..

Yes, the first "room" has a shower and a sink (with a slightly larger counter), then the "second" room has the tub, toilet, and a second sink.

We considered just putting a regular door because while the layout should add the additional function to let more people use the space, because of the frosted windows we're always just one (or one of us with the toddler).

Interesting set up. It almost looks as if the bathroom with the tub was original, then the room with the shower and extra sink were added on later. Do you have the floor plans or an overview of the layout? When you say repainting and redecorating-to what extant are you looking to change the bathroom (paint, decorations, fixtures, shelving,vanity, tiles, walls,etc)?

Sadly I don't have a copy of the plans., but the house was a new build in 2009, we're the 2nd owners.

We're looking to:

- paint

- art

- mats/towels/etc.

- add shelving (if it works/is needed, as you can see there is minimal storage as it currently is)

The little table next to the toilet with the basket is removeable, we added it for a little extra storage and before it looked like something was missing there.

Repainting the walls and cabinets will make a huge difference. Consider choosing lighter colors so the contrast between white fixtures and white trim isn't so stark. Would start with that and live with it a week or so before considering doing anything else.

I'd call it more of a poop green than poop yellow.
