Have you ever thought of adding something at the foot of the bed? Such as an old (or new) blanket chest? You'll find it comes in handy for storage of your sheets and other linens, frees up closet space and comes in really great as an additional place to sit or an additional place to fold clothes, stack and organize laundry, etc. Hides a lot too. .

Yes, I may add something to the foot of the bed. I certainly consider that now and again as I walk into the room.

I saw that at PB, too, as always get the updates and could not believe the deal! Lucky you to find a color that totally works in your room. I do like the relaxed look, but is it too relaxed for the look you have here?

There are upholstered headboards that have a wood element to them. Take a look at this one.

Thanks Abbyjean. Today I'm trying out the relaxed, but folded look (after seeing a similar look on a Houzz picture). I like the throw, but still experimenting with my favorite use of it. LOL!

Now that works, too, and will be easier to do each day. It is tough to get the relaxed look just right.

Your upholstered headboard looks great. It's amazing how it makes such a difference.

Our Italian made bedroom set was bought when we got married in 2000. I love the set (the bedside tables, dresser and armoire are a beautiful walnut with inlay) but couldn't stand the headboard anymore so I switched it out with an upholstered headboard from Homesense (the Canadian version of Home Goods) for a steal at $299. Here is my before and after.

Becky, all the old furniture is Ethan Allen. I cut off the scallops, painted the nightstands and replaced the knobs because I really didn't want to part with the nightstands. I know they're too small, but I still like them:)

Right abbyjean, trying to get the tossed look right is a funny process, isn't it?

I have a tossed one in the living room on our window seat. My hubby was sitting there the other day and got too close to the throw and I told him to be sure and not touch it as I had worked soooo hard to get it just right and he just looked at me and uttered some words about why have things if they cannot be touched and moved. The nerve! LOL

Absolutely abbyjean! And to think, my husband wants to toss the throw on the closet floor after I spent forever achieving the tossed look and moving it carefully over to the chair at night so I can kind of maintain the same tossed look the next day:) We are funny, aren't we???

I think I like flat, but folded once more to give some added depth to the bed. May look a little cozier, and stay sophisticated.

Thanks amygirl! I really like the PB headboard! The brown accent wall is Ben Moore "Fallen Timber". I love that brown! I've since had the rest of the main floor (except that brown accent wall) painted with Sherwin Williams "Accessible Beige". It's just a nice light greige, but more gray than my previous beige (which was sort of gold looking and ugly).

Don't know if anyone still has this thread bookmarked. I think it was my first Houzz dilemma. Here is what the bed wall looks like now, but I decided the throw just isn't working.
So I just ordered this Dune colored RH throw (same RH color as the linen bed skirt and front pillow). It's the second from the top color in the RH pic. Also ordered the little bolster that is an exact match to my paisley shams. It will be in the very front of the pillows. Pics in a few days when they arrive, if anyone is still around, lol:)
Margo, I'll be placing this new throw flat across the bottom of the bed - I see that was your preference above. I have the same throw in a different color and I played with it yesterday - flat was best.

Oops, the RH pic I just posted of the paisley shams is their color "Fog". Mine are "Eucalyptus". Here is a close up of it.

I love this bedroom and all your changes in here. I also remember our discussion on how to do a throw to be casual and not a lot of work each morning.

Thanks abbyjean. Yeah, after having this throw for a year or so, the color just isn't working. The colors in there are warmer. In the pics, my paisley shams look quite gray but in person they look just like the close up I just posted (with tans, golds, and the brown piping). I think the light from the north windows makes everything look cooler in the pics. Anyway, I just decided to order from the same RH collection so it should all work better. The headboard is from PB and is more of a gray/beige, but I think it works OK, though not great. But, the pillow cases, bed skirt, and little linen pillow are all RH dune, so I figured going with the dune throw should be a better option. The little bolster I ordered is cute, with its little brown bow and brown piping. This RH pic is the same color as my paisley shams and that's the same little bolster I just ordered.

Oh, abbyjean, also this new throw will be a bit of a pain. It's rather thick and heavy (which is why I'll lay it flat) and it will need to be folded in thirds first. The one I have now is light as a feather and very easy to deal with.

Oh no!! I saw your picture and wondered why it was back up. Updates can be a curse! Lol....

That close up you did really shows the colors nicely and they will be MARVELOUS!!! And I agree....that bolster is CUTE, big time!!!

Throws these days seem thicker, but having it large enough to fold in thirds is a nice perk, too. Can't wait to see it all!

My new throw and bolster came. Dang, the bolster came in the right color with the brown piping, but GRAY ribbon. It is supposed to have brown ribbon like the RH pic above. I called and RH customer service was as frustrating as they always are (terrible customer service at that store).

I can send mine back and it will take three weeks for a new one to arrive (and who knows what color ribbons it would have). I'll just go buy some brown ribbon at the fabric store, lol.

Even nicer than I imagined this would all look with your new items! WOW! And sorry, but I am just fine with the gray ribbons! They stand out more on the bedding and they are just darn cute!

Is the throw folded in thirds? It must be huge! LOVE it and the fringe!

Oh good, glad you all like it. OK, maybe I'll just stick with the gray ribbon but thought it kind of odd with the brown piping. Abbyjean, that's folded in half. It arrived rather late in the day and I wanted to get pics before my light faded, so I didn't bother with different folds. Is half OK? It would be much easier to manage off and on each day than thirds.

I'm really glad I added these two things. The bed looks MUCH more finished now. It just was not working with the gray throw.

Well, it took nearly two years, but I think I finally have this room done (my first Houzz dilemma, I think). You might recall, but I also had the dresser refinished in a dark color and put new silver knobs on it about a year ago.

I have no idea why that posted like that with the text in the middle. I'm still struggling with the new Houzz changes. The after is the dark version.

Text moving from where intended. I've had the same problem. I check it before the submit. I think we have to make sure where the cursor is before inserting photo. I have had to cut the text when it moved and paste it at the top of the comment.

Actually you can go back to the comment and edit it too... I see houzz added text to the icons for Edit and Delete and Report

So weird LB. I added the before pic first and it posted it second and I made sure to hit enter after adding the text so my cursor was beneath the text before adding the pics. Frustrating, isn't it?

The change in that dresser is huge, just like the side tables by the bed. VERY NICE bedroom!!! I was noticing the dates, too....great exercise in patience!

Oh, and half with the throw is just right.....bulky looking if it was folded another time and think the fringe would look tangled, too.
