Last month, I posted an article on what my husband and I did to renovate our outdated bedroom. We have new furniture in our freshly painted bedroom and I made drapes for our room as well. This is how our bedroom looks now:

Before purchasing our bedroom furniture from a furniture store, I noticed that the night stands are quite a bit wider than our old night stands. We have our bed and night stands along the only wall in our bedroom that makes sense. Since there is not enough room for my husband to open his closet door, we decided to get barn doors for the closet and the opening to our bedroom. After searching online for prices on barn doors, including prices for barn door hardware, which is sold separately for the most part, my husband decided to build them, and I'm so glad he did! The barn doors that I like were going to be at least $600.00 each. Here is a break down on what we spent:

$147.95 - Pine wood, nails, glue, and screws

148.35 - Heavy duty bypass double door sliding barn door hardware

17.99 - Cast iron antique door handles

17.00 - Half a gallon of Valspar's ultra white semi-gloss paint

For a grand total of: $331.19

Once my husband finished constructing the barn doors, I painted them with two coats of paint. Here are the finished and installed barn doors:

My husband's closet is on the left and the entrance to our bedroom is on the right. We are so very happy with how these doors turned out and how great they look in our room!
