Orchids never spiked

I have two orchids that were given to me and have never spiked. One, a Den, I have had for about 5 years. It grows new canes but has never spiked. They are pretty easy to spike and I don't have any problem with all my other Dens., The other is a Vanda I have had for over 10 years. I have had it in every location I can think of, it gets plenty of water and food. I finally stuck it in a tree and have given up on it. Are there just some orchids that don't ever spike and if so what is the reason?

If you can show some pictures it would be easier to diagnose.

Dendrobiums are a very large group with many different cultures. Do you have the name tags?

Fertilizer is not food. Plants produce their own food, and they can only do that thru photosynthesis. It doesn't matter how much fertilizer we "feed" our plants, none of it will do it any good if plants don't get the sunshine they need to photosyntesize. If your orchids aren't blooming, then just (gradually) increase the amount of sunlight that they are currently getting. It takes energy to bloom, and if they're not getting that energy, then they're not going to.

Healthy looking plant. The leaves are a beautiful emerald green. But that is an indication of not enough sun. A lighter green is more desirable as that means more solar exposure. You will need to add an ounce of patience. Especially if this plant blooms in spring and summer then you will be waiting a while for blooms. Find a brighter spot.
