Thank you apple_pie. I'm thinking a little darker..Not much though. But then do I want darker brown or darker gray tones? I know either would work but occasionally, just for fun, I would like the option of changing things up from red accents to beachy teals, blues, and greens.

Since taupe is a neutral color, I would go with beachy teals, blues, and greens, just like you are thinking. I would stay away from dark browns and especially gray tones. The gray tones might not look good against the shade of taupe you are using.
