the blue is a glaucous coating.. otherwise known as a waxy coating ... they are green under the wax ...

the wax can be worn off .. by rubbing.. overhead watering ... especially if it is warmed in the sun.. and then hit with something that can wear it off ....

the easy answer .. which is the same with all hosta.. if you can.. avoid sun in the heat of the day.. not only because they sweat .. but because the wax can warm ...'

all that said.. they will grow faster in more sun .... so you could grow them ugly for a year or two.. in too much sun.. and then move them into a better position later ... lack of sun.. plus the coating.. can make them slow to grow ...

and that really is the bottom line.. just plant them.. and move them if they arent performing to expectation ... and throw them on the driveway for a few days.. if they arent ....
