Take the shutters off and don’t replace them. Paint the siding anything but white. Landscape around the house. Good luck ;)

Maybe paint your house a light gray, and do some great landscaping. I agree that you should get rid of your shutters.

I also agree that you should remove the shutters and paint your house a pretty color! Adding beautiful landscaping will help so much as well! When we moved into our house over 3 years ago, it was painted all white, even the trim. Two years ago, we had the house professionally painted and landscaped and it looks so much better--money well spent! Just make sure you choose a paint color that you love and that everyone else in the house agrees with your choice.

If you own the property, do remove the shutters and don't replace them -- at least not on the downstairs windows) with other shutters (literally not enough room on some windows for that). You would have room to add larger sized windows in the upstairs gable; however, you might just add additional boards around all the windows, upstairs and down, instead to enlarge and enhance the frame/trim boards and paint those trim boards a different color from your siding. Consider painting the fascia and new wider window trim the same color -- perhaps a medium to dark gray (unless that would clash with the roof color).

Also,

Do talk with the utility company(ies) and find out the cost of setting a post a dozen or more feet left of your house and having the utility wires attached to the post (rather than the upper left corner of your home) and then run from the post underground to your meter.

Rerouting the utility wires would enable you to do more to the front of your home in a way that hides the gas meter and adds curb appeal.

If you could build a new entrance or roof to your existing entrance -- or even a new living room -- with a porch that wraps around that left front corner of the house (over the two pair of windows, that would also help hide the gas meter from the road.

If you don't own the house, focus on landscaping AFTER you know where and how deep the underground gas lines are so you can safely dig in the front and left side of your yard.

Take the shutters off, paint the trim white (including trim around the window) and paint the house a color other than white. I like the one Grace posted, here are some more ideas:

Consider extending your shed roof over to give you a little porch.

I would remove the shutters. Add thicker trim around the windows. Paint the house and paint the trim to compliment the house color you choose.

Check the cost of running the wires underground from the pole to the house. We had that done because our line was too low. Why add a pole in your front yard if you don't have to.

Ourfarmhouse always has the best "detailed" ideas.

I would add a porch from the front door to the end of the house on the left . That window is not very attractive and would be hidden...plus you would have a pretty front porch . Then do some pretty landscaping ..and take the shudders off ..they are stop small and don't add to anything ..I would paint the house all white or a light grey with white trim around the Windows. Use the wood of the shudders and make something decorative out of them ...like square boxes for flower pots ...it's nice looking your house ..I think it just needs plants and a porch where you can sit and enjoy ..with lots of hanging plants ...make it pretty ...add a tree or two to frame the house ...line the drive way with shrubs ..look at the houzz garden front yard sections for easy answers . Good luck !

PS. I love the grey house that grace posted ..you could easily do that ...even the little garden breaking up your property is a good idea ....so much you can do with a porch , a picket fence and plants . Just don't paint the house a dark color . The light grey with white trim would be lovely for your house .
