Find a pillow or fabric or bedding that you can pull the other strong colors out to use in the room.

Denita showed you some great photos of how you can achieve this. I recommend a charcoal color. Can you at least paint the fireplace surround a charcoal color?

Why can't you repaint? I painted all the rooms in my house by myself, but even if you need to hire someone, surely it won't be more expensive than buying all the different elements to "add masculinity "

i am 10 weeks in to a remodel that was supposed to take 6. my kids start school on monday and i would have them repaint the room but i’m simply out of time. i used some sample colors on the wall before i picked this, and it simply looked less pink. just trying to see if there is a way to live with it, or if to a professional or trained eye it simply is too juneville to even masquerade as sophisticated. of course i can paint it later. for now, it stays.

yes to charcoal:

the fireplace inset and hearth are charcoal gray tile, as is the flooring in the adjacent master en suite bathroom.

the bedding has not been purchased.

i did not occur to me to select this first.

here is the adjacent bathroom open to the pink room. i’ve asked them to paint this “faded gray”. a very subtle gray.

bathroom will have brushed nickel plumbing fixtures with black bathroom accessories.

vanity back splash gets gray large hex tile.

oh i know this feeling.... we are 16 weeks into an 8 week project.

denita's charcoal pairing is brilliant. any pillows and bedding you choose can be very tailored rather than fussy.

I love light pink with mahagony furniture and real brass accents. Maybe a few rich wood night stands with stunning brass lamps.

I agree with Jan...but I'm the kind of person who can't have a feminine master bedroom and I consider pink to be very feminine. I'm the queen of wanting to make things work, but I think you'll regret not repainting now. Stop and breathe and get this bedroom perfect. Just turn away for the moment and focus on the bathroom while you shop for bedding and drapes.

In that case, I think that the color will fade away slightly when your furniture is in place, but you may as well jump right in!

Blush and gray are beautiful colors together...I would find rose gold to put there in somewhere...

Stay away from ruffles and fur and you'll be okay.

What is your goal for the room to look like?

One way is to use charcoal and black, tribal or sophisticated prints,heavy texture,large art (B&W photos might work...thinking more Robert Longo not umm,"bunnies in a field with our little Susie") and keep away from the boringly curved or heavy ornate. This room could be brilliant! The pink walls can easily become just a soft backdrop,not the major player. Look at rooms with white backgrounds and imagine them pink...easy to see that some would work quite well pink. What is your general style preference? And what are the bedroom floors? I would avoid rose gold,"farm house" anything, and ruffles.

my goal is for it to be soft, peaceful and desert modern, with comfortable sophistication.

we have have a mahogany poster bed

with a frosted glass inset headboard

my inclination is to pull in some gray/black stripes and charcoal tweeds and black accents. i am thinking a sisal or natural fiber rug to introduce some rough texture. i have pendant lights with a sisal rope cord and black socket, or frosted globe pendants with black cords and brushed canopies.

the carpet will be a thick, gray carpet

goltooth Sounds like you are well on track to pull this off. I would look at mudcloth (must post this because it was such a smart diy http://littlegreennotebook.com/2018/06/easy-diy-acrylic-bench-upholstery.html/ and simply blocked fabrics as well as the stripes. Maybe consider some boucherouite/azilal or rya textiles as an accent not necessarily a rug. And a leather tray somewhere 'cuz boyz.

I would ignore the pink walls and paint them the same color as the bathroom walls when you repaint.

I understand time constraints when your remodel takes longer than planned and you’re facing back to school madness. Are you using a contractor? You can get bedding and accents that cordinate with the blush color as well as a different color later.

It is a shame they can't repaint the bedroom with the bathroom paint while they are there. Yes, Charcoal and black will help in the meantime.

desert theme means landscape photos or prints or paintings of the mountains and desert, bringing in the big sky, cacti and earthiness.

i live in arizona, and this room has sweeping views of the desert hills and loads of natural light.

I wear a lot of pink, but haven't ever decorated with it. My first thought was, that I could certainly paint a room myself (I do it all the time), but then I thought, "Why?" It's one of those happy accidents! It's actually a nice shade of pink, and I think Denita (as usual!!) hits it right on the head with her visuals and ideas.

Follow her lead, and you're going to have the most sophisticated master bedroom around. You'll be the envy of anyone who sees it, and all who see it will go home and start looking around their beige and gray houses and think, hmmmm, time to spiff up!

The reason I asked is that it means something different to everyone. I think that the "feel" of a room can be accomplished in many different ways, but you need to have an inspiration (of anything). Mostly and to me, "desert" means warm colors, of which you have none. However, the possibility of having some pink in there makes me think of sunsets...

So, you could use something like the above as inspiration....You CAN bring in a touch of warmth by a couple of dark coral/terracotta accessories. So my suggestion of using pink gold somewhere can read as an orange (pink gold isn't really pink)..

You don't have PINK!!!....so don't use ORANGE!!! Keep it soft...

In a SINGLE day, any painter can roll two coats of latex paint! In an empty room. Even while the kids are IN school. Once and done.

My guess is once all is in the room? The pink hangs around another five years .

It's best to probably to repaint it now, not later. If you are really worried about time, I would paint the fireplace frame a different color while wrapping the chimney area in wallpaper to bring in the masculinity you are looking for. Use grey, black, or blues. I'd stay away from certain browns it can make it still look feminine with a brown neutral. Plus use modern vintage pieces to bring it together.

i understand the logical thought that we can repaint. my house is completely 100% torn apart, there are no less than 12 bodies here and closing off the master bathroom accesss while tile and grout and counters are going in to taping off baseboards and windows simply is not an option. i have to move my kids back in, clean everything and unpack an entire house by monday. we will not be painting now.

yes i can do it once the kids go back to school. you’re right about that.

Goltooth i like the charcoal/pink combo from Denita. I think you can make the bedroom look great. I’ve been working on my guest room combining pink, navy and black. Here are some bedding and art ideas that I’ve pinned in planning my room, maybe it can help.

I agree with those who think it's serendipity. Look at blush bedrooms, perhaps some gray or white linen bedding, charcoal, black, some matte gold. I'd stick to simple, classic, restrained, organic --- no cute flowers, lace, ruffles.

It's fine to leave the paint for now. I just would not choose future items necessarily based on that color. The color could work......it is just a lot of that one color. What was the reason you chose this color to begin with? What color were you looking to choose? What other colors do you have in your home?

Rooms should not all be the same in a home, but there should be a flow and consistency from one room to the other.

Here is a possible color scheme for you, using the desert as your backdrop.

Since you are unable to paint the room at the current time, I do think adding some beige and black to your space could really help try and balance out the area.

And of course, you can change anything to fit your style, just trying to give an example of some of the colors I'd pull.
