So are you thinking of Geraniums or Pelargoniums and are they in pots or in the ground!

Pelargoniums are pretty care free plants. I grow them in the ground and in pots. I give them a sprinkle of time release fertilizer when I plant and that's all the fertilizer they need to keep them looking good all summer. Don't overwater--they like to dry between waterings and deadhead when they need it. That's it.

Cranesbill geraniums are not very demanding at all. The only thing they need is what the average plant needs a bit of fertilizer, occasional watering and a haircut after they flower to get rid of most of the seed pods

So to answer your question--not demanding at all

Ah, surprised I forgot to mention, Flora, that I have them in a wire/metal basket attached to my balcony railing! Exposure is full sun (SE exposure) from 8am to 2-3pm. I always seem to confuse the two but these would be Pelargoniums.

I have found them to flourish with a lot of water and just added topsoil added seasonally. They are so easy to take cuttings from and root in a glass of water as well!

Due to lack of space, I'll have to just let them get killed off, unfortunately.

If you have a cool place such as garage, shed or unheated room you can pack the uprooted plants into a box and store them through the winter. They won’t need light if they’re dormant. Alternatively you can keep them going as houseplants.

LOL Floral, I have over 100 plants in my apt. (Honestly it is likely close to 200 -- I quit counting long ago,) Finding space for additions is not easy. Unfortunately, no garage, basement, attic, or other chilly space.
