Bench at Entry- Is It Too cluttered

bench at the entry seems to make the entry way a bit cluttered -I think it's too close to the hutch however, I cannot move the hutch as it's sitting perfectly opposite a buffet table with a mirror.
Any thoughts please?

Do you use it? If not, then I agree that it is a little cluttered so moving it would be best. If you use it regularly though, it's really not bad so I would leave it.

That hutch is way too big for that space and way too overpowering with all of those small pieces on it. It's also dated. I would get rid of that hutch. But I also don't like that bench there. That bench is an outdoor bench, it is not meant for an entry way. If you're going to put a bench there, then it actually needs to be a flat bench with no arms.

The bench looks great where it's at! I agree with the above posters--the hutch is too big.

Pretty! I'd like to see more of the room. I'm wondering if these pieces could be rearranged so the hutch is the focal point--is there a wall where the sofa can facing it? I suspect that piece is special to you and holds special things. If so, it would be nice to make it a part of the seating grouping somehow.

Lamia - have you ever tried placing your dining table in the front, bay window area and your sofa and chairs toward your staircase?

I think a smaller bench would work in the foyer area....the bench you have is lovely but not for that spot! Love your room byw.

I don't see the bench as a problem. The hutch looks cluttered and overpowers the space. If the hutch has to stay, then you need to make some drastic changes to what you're displaying. If you're focused on the bench, the only thing that might help is a single picture rather than the four that you have. If someone is sitting on the bench, does his or her head bump into the picture? Is so, maybe there should be nothing over the bench.

Sorry if comments are only supposed to be from professional decorators. I like your hutch because it seems to have history and personal meaning to you. It gives your home character and personality.

A bench at a doorway is often necessary to rest bags and things you're carrying as you enter from outside. In cold weather we use one inside the front door for guests to sit and remove boots and heavy winter wear. And you can bring it forward if you need extra seating. However, If you don't use the bench, I would remove it. If you do use it, perhaps painting the bench a soft blue, green, peach, taupe, etc, and putting color into a bench cushion or pillows would be nice. I would also try a single larger item over the bench. I understand that you are carrying the silver tone throughout the room, but the four silver frames might be a bit heavy placed over the bench.
