I’d say the front looks salvageable and the back looks like it needs to be redone completely in the fall. It’s all crabgrass.

I don't see any crabgrass at all. The weed you're seeing is a bunch grass. Crabgrass is a sod forming grass that does not bunch up like that. Also crabgrass spreads very low to the ground while that grass grows up tall. By now it would have formed a dense sod with no gaps. With that in mind you need to get it identified before you assume it will die soon. Perhaps someone here will take a closer look and identify it for you. Some of the candidate grasses are dallisgrass, quack grass, and barnyard grass.

Did your front yard swimming pool drain fairly quickly after the rain? If not then you should have it regraded by a professional. The worst thing that can happen is to have rain flood your basement. Since you are fairly level already and having the problem, I'm saying this is not a DIY job to get the drainage perfected.

Do you still have the ruts on the side yard? Those need to be included in repairing the front if it is, in fact, a low spot. NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT on this. For your area reseeding should be going on in a week or two.

The front yard drains quickly, thankfully so far our basement has stayed dry.

The entire yard definitely needs to be re-graded a second time.

I am hoping it is done soon, to take advantage of the fall lawn growing season.

I am also hoping when the gutter downspouts are attached to a underground piping system to a drywell some of the front yard problem will be alleviated.

Everything looks like crabgrass to Joe. I think Joe has childhood "issues" with crabgrass. :o) Well, I know, not too nice, but am I wrong???

That sure looks like smooth crabgrass to me. As such, a good shot with Weed B Gon Plus Crabgrass Killer will knock it right out. Your two-month-old lawn might take a bit of a hit from that as well, but it should be pretty well hardened in after the summer.

How many applications of Weed B Gon Plus Crabgrass Killer should it take.

I sprayed some on about a week ago, and a few of the leaves turned a reddish brown, but much of the plant looks un-touched.

We have had a lot of rain over the past two weeks.

Can Weed B Gon Plus Crabgrass Killer go bad and lose it's potency?

I have had it for a few years.

I started the task of pulling it by hand and it pulls out very easy.
