Lonnie, I love all three. Thank you for sharing.. Golden Star's flower appears to be quite large.. How many inches across?. You have some winning flowers there.

Awesome! Second one is such a performer! Nice roots on the last one :) I also got two new plants today, they are still in the box because it’s waaay too hot right now.

    Paradiseprincess,

Golden Star is about 4" wide. Heavy enough that the flowers face down unfortunately.

We're getting a lot of rain in North Texas, thank goodness!!

This is a new one that bloomed for the first time Saturday.

Lonnie, I was looking for your Thong Suk Jai pics again. How is the fading? The pic above looks like they lose that orange color.

I'm wanting to go back and get a few more this fall. I wonder if he has lots of blooms now.

Candice, I don't have any pics of the faded flower. They just started to bloom again, so I'll take a pic in a few days for reference. You might call Chaya before you drive over to insure of the blooms. Do you have his phone number?

Are these from the nursery in Houston? (Sorry, I’m new(ish) to these beautiful plants!) I am in New Braunfels right now and am wanting to visit before I leave.

    Angela,

Yes, they are from Nature's Growers Nursery in Houston. He is on the North West side of Houston.

Angela, you should go! I've been wanting to go up there soon if you want a buddy! Lol.

I was holding out because he said many are not blooming, but will soon. This heat really discourages the flowers I think. It should be lovely not long from now.

Printmaster- thank you for the info!

Candice- when are you thinking of going? I was hoping he would still be selling this late in the season!

Chaya said to try in about two weeks when I asked when was a good time to see more blooms. I don't really have a set time though.

I'm not sure when he closes for the season. Good question. I'm pretty sure he sells through the Fall.

Candice, Here is a pic of Thong Suk Jai, an old flower (left) and a new flower (right. The yellow/orange does fade slightly.

    Angela,

If you decide to go to Chaya's. I can give you names of plants and pics to look for, since they may not be blooming? Are there specific colors your looking for?

Candice- I want to go VERY badly, but it is 2.5 hours from here so I’m trying to decide. I will be here for at least another month! Please let me know when you decide to go because I would want to meet you up there if i can!

Lonnie- thank you so much!! I love both of these that you have posted! Especially the golden star. I really want a purple one. That’s what I am looking for specifically but will take almost anything since my collection is still small.

A good source to view pictures vs. just names is Top Tropicals website. They have some of the same DR. A true purple is very difficult to obtain. Most are a variation of black/red.

    King of Purple
    Chok Dee
    Moung Kood

    Angela,

The pic below was taken at Chaya's in May of this year.

King of purple is so pretty! Well they really all are. Thank you for the suggestion of looking at top tropicals for pictures too.

One last question (I think) any idea what the prices are like for Nature’s Growers? Are they mostly a range depending on what you are looking for? Or are they all mostly the same price?

thank you again for your help!

Wow!! That is an impressive display of DR!

    Angela,

One last thing. Do not wear good shoes. The greenhouses are usually very wet and muddy. Wear old shoes, and have a change of shoes with you.

Candice- Okay, just let me know, and I will try my best to make it! (send me a message with your number!)

Lonnie- Thank you for all of your help!!
