Ornamental Grass

Grass Id please? Will this grow in shade?

This grass has reddish stems and puts on a red (flower/feather) not sure what the right word is If I remember correctly from last fall. Can it be moved successfully and will it grow in the shade? Does it need to be divided? The middle is old dead wood. Thank you

And yes, I am hand pulling all the Japanese stiltweed around it :)

It could be a Miscanthus and if so they need full sun. Google images to see if the flower (inflorescence) you recall matches.

Looks like Miscanthus sinensis 'Morning Light'....and your description of the seedhead fits well also :-) As mentioned, this type of OG will develop best in a full sun location. Too much shade will delay or prevent the seedheads and stunt the growth overall.

Lots of good OG's for a shadier site however....just not the miscanthus.
