Foyer rug advice is appreciated!

Hello - I need advice on a rug size/shape/color for my foyer. It measures 18' wide by 8' deep, then 1 curved step up and another 6' deep. The entry view is a 2 story natural stone fireplace. Is a plain brown rectangle really my only option? Your help is appreciated!
