I have a whole lot of insight and study in HLB; and I truly believe the only way to contain it is by quarantine and trapping and complete elimination of the ACP vector, as California and Mexico have done with the Medfly. No ACP, no HLB; it is as simple as that, but not so simple to accomplish. First is you need the political will to literally go house to house to cut and burn infected trees and to quarantine any area/house/neighborhood/County where the ACP is found.

I don't live in the hotzones, but I know they're doing the cut and burn in Cali and Florida. From what I read, I think they're taking adopting that kind of approach. They're cutting and burning and paying for each burned tree. Prevention is always part of the solution. But with international movement of bugs and pathogens, prevention is just that first piece. As an example in the homo sapien bug, I just read that there is measles outbreak alert from someone from south east asia - who didn't have vaccination and got measles and traveled via air to Alaska, and then rode a cruise ship. Hopefully, the research and selective breeding can add on the back end.
