Brown Jelly on Peach Tree

I did some research that seemed to be inconclusive. Borers - wet weather - not sure.

See photos. It started when I saw a golf ball-sized ball of brown jelly (thick and sticky) on the ground under a peach tree in the yard. When I looked up and around, I saw more in the main crotch of the tree. I can't imagine where the ball dropped from.

We have had a fairly dry, hot summer in Western NY but recently have had quite a bit of rain, mostly as downpours.

In previous years, I have not seen this. Do I need to be concerned? Does it need to come down?

Thanks,

Charles
