jcorn1, anne dee, Warren Mullins, thank you all..I had started out leaning towards Mexican but it just wasn't working so I decided to go with a more Caribbean vibe, made the headboard and painted the tables and closet doors..I'm so happy with it..Houzz is such a great site..so many ideas and paint colors..

Ann, the blue room was so dull and dark and had ugly carpet on the floor. It was depressing. Now I can focus on the living room with the pink wall...which will be gone soon..

I love the bedding and the mint colored closet doors!

Nicely done. The only thing I might suggest is to angle the rug under the corner of the bed by the chair to loosen the square-ish-ness a bit.

domain123, the accent wall is BM 1194 Mexican Tile, the rest are BM 1137 Sycamore and the doors and night stands are 2035-50 Spruce Green ( semi-gloss ). :-). The bedspread and shams are Tommy Bahama from Home Goods..I made the headboard with fabric I matched to a pillow purchased on sale at Pottery Barn. Table lamps also from Home Goods and the chair is from Pier 1, also on sale.

Angela Pascoe, if I do , that was not my intent. the blue room is the old room and the caribe style room is the new one.
Ok, I thought I was going crazy, went to comment and then realize that I already had.

Angela Pascoe, I sent a photo to some Houzzers who were offering advice on another room and perhaps that is why it posted twice. :-(
  • 13 years ago
I understand I just wanted to make sure that I was not seeing things.

Decoenthusiate, I placed the rug at an angle and it looks much nicer. Great idea, thanks

I love the rug angled - that was a great suggestion - I wouldn't have thought to do that!

You're welcome! I love Caribbean themes and have a wonderful book on design and decor from the region.
What is the name of the book? (If you don't mind!)
Victoria-the more I look at your room the more I want to repaint my room back to orange.
Decoenthusiaste, what's the name of your book?
Angela Pascoe , burnt orange is my favorite color ..I think because there is so much of a black base in it..I just got rid of an orange wall in my living room but that's a whole other story :-(
  • 13 years ago
I repainted mine orange but did one accent wall in a beige. Lol. Kitchen is orange, but I put a sage green, Restful from Home Depot and bring in accents in orange.

I think the blue room is great. B6ut the bedspread doesn't look good withe the blue on your walls! I think a white or cream or even yellow would look 100% better. If you use a white coverlet with several blue throw pillows and 1 yellow it was really pop and give it a better feel &pull it all together. Blues are very hard to decorate with!
Sue Potter, the blue room is 'before'. The Caribe room is ' after '. it was lovely in its day but very dated drab and dreary...
Angela Pascoe..not far at all..we should meet at Boca Bargoons some day!!!
Angela Pascoe, are you an interior designer or someone who just has a penchant for it?
I think so Victoria been wanting to come up that way. My niece goes to FAU and I sometimes bring her back to school. Not an interior designer at all. Found the site and have been using it to update my own house. I have also met some awesome group of people along the way and check in daily with them. What is Boca Bargoons...
Angela..I thought you were an interior designer for sure!..
No, way, just love colors and designs. Why would you think that decoratinglady5.....
Boca Bargoons is a warehouse filed with fabrics galore..fabulous..bought my headboard fabric there last week at a great price..everything was half price..even the 60 dollar a yard fabrics. I am going to make s On my way! Pillows for the TV room and will be heading there again at some point..Bargoons has EVERYTHING..
