I think something that combines the traditional look you have going with maybe a more modern color or in this case a little less bold but with a similar Filigree design you would typically find with very traditional decorations.

I have moved the shelf to the side wall and think you should consider stacking art behind the lamps and selecting a larger framed & lined canvas for over the sofa. I would select a rug with some rust tones in it.

All the framed prints together on the dining room wall don't seem to be the same quality as the rest of your room, so I would replace those with an arrangement of hanging decorative plates.

For the dining room I would select a rug that has touches of celery like the color of the ceramic lamps on the sideboard.

Here are a couple more to consider. The dining area rug has the celery green as well as a bit of the rust from the living area. The living room rug has rust and a bit of the eggplant from the chairs.
