I'd wait to make any changes until the room is completed. Once your (beautiful) counter tops are in, the molding and soffits will fade away.

Since the sofits are just above the cabinets, you could have them painted the same color as the cabinets. But I agree with above ^^^ in waiting until everything else is in first. Right now they're noticeable because there's nothing else to look at.

Would you paint the entire kitchen the same colour as the cabinets? Walls, trim, sofits? Or just the sofits?

I was considering taking off the trim over the windows and then painting the sofit and trim over the cabinets the same colour to read as one piece.

It is very busy. What was the reason for the soffits? Were these added in?

I agree with a poster above, that the cabinets look very yellow. Changing the wall color to a warm white may be the easiest solution to tone down the busyness.

It looks like the molding above the cabinets is not the same color as the cabinets. At any rate, I think a flat piece of trim the same color as the cabinets (or no trim)
would look much better.
