I am very very new to gardening, and there are some basic things I haven’t been able to find out. I have a small space around my house where I want to sow some plants and flowers (not vegetables).

I found out that this season is great for sowing spring flower bulbs. If I sow them, what and how can I plant fall and winter plants on them since I don’t want the ground to look empty.

What are some good fall and winter plants? I live in western Washington
