make fireplace appear bigger

Largest direct vent fireplace available from builder is 42 wide and 35 high. My husband wants a TV over the fireplace and I truly want to make him happy but I don’t want it to be too heavy. I was thinking maybe frame the fireplace with wide black or stainless steel to make it look more substantial ...you know that TV is going to be bigger than the fireplace. The home is transitional leaning toward modern. Ideas?
