I would like to upgrade my fireplace surround and add a mantle without ruining my fireplace. I have a wood stove insert in brown with brownish granite tile surrounding it. The granite is actually over red brick. My question is should I tile over the granite, paint it or find a mantle that will hide most of the existing. tile. The tile is in perfect condition and it is

the style I dislike. i am thinking of tiling over the existing tile. but everyone keeps telling ne the tile won’t stick on the existing granite.
