How wide is the wall the mirror will hang/rest on? There's a general rule some people use that says that the white space on either side of the artwork or mirror being hung should be roughly three-eighths of the width of the art or mirror. So multiply the width of the wall by 0.57 to estimate how wide your mirror should be and see if the vertical or horizontal position is closer to that number.

For artwork or a mirror being hung above furniture, usually the width of the item should measure about two-thirds the width of the furniture over which it will hang.

Vertical and hang it. Otherwise all you get is a reflection of the ceiling.

It's worthless over a dresser hung horizontally, unless you're short you will have to hang it too high.

IMO mirrors above dressers are really a dated look what do you want to see in the mirror/ I think a nice piece of art is a better choice

Those of us who do not have master baths, or even a large family bathroom like to use it for make up tie a tie fix our hair etc.

I would hang it vertically because it will be more useful, assuming you really want and need a mirror there. I have fourteen paintings and drawings in one room, so having one piece of art doesn't mean you can't have another one. It all depends on what expresses your personality and your wishes, and a bedroom is a very personal room.

Vertical and hung! It would look good at the center. Please don't hang it too high in case you cannot see the mirror!

I would definitely hang it. It could really be hung either vertically or horizontally, but my preference would be vertically. If hung horizontally, I would center it over the dresser. If hung vertically, I would hang it off-center and then add a small table lamp in the open area of the dresser.

If you hang it horizontally and not too high above the dresser do you get a good view of what you want to see? Otherwise go vertcal.

Definitely hang it horizontally for a good use of space. I prefer the look vertically, but with the height you have above the dresser, it'll be better served horizontally.
