Can you add a tile front facia to an existing tub?

Have a bathroom floor plan much the same as shown in the photo. Would like to give an uplift to the tub/shower area without buying a new unit. Thanks for any help with this. Beautiful work!

You need a surface (hardee backer) attached to the tub. I've seen it done but it's tricky. Narrow framing is the key.

I'm working with a niche similar to this and want to add tile to the front of a tub but I don't think I'm asking the right question when searching for the tub. Should I be asking about drop in tubs with apron less fronts so that tile can be flush with the lip. Thank you for any direction you can point me in.
