I have several different grow lights. I use them to start my seeds indoors. I have tomatoes, zinnias, geraniums, and carnations going. I have also found that I am starting to see a little success starting rose root cuttings. I really never had success with that before. Good, luck and have fun with your light..... just make sure the seeds that you start need light, not darkness to germinate.

Woo Hoo! What a great gift. Uh-oh. I see more gardens being dug in the yard. Maybe you should try growing african violets. I used to grow miniatures and they were so much fun.

that is a good grow light, when I used grow lights I used timer that you just plugged into the wall and then plugged in the lamp it was set by pushing it to or more points on a small wheel it turned on and off as the clock like part in the center turned it was really easy and they were cheap from Walgreens.

I don't know that particular light but I have bloomed orchids under lights indoors. I'm originally from NY and all orchids came in for the winter. I grew them under CFL's and a few expensive grow lights for higher light orchids.

Now, living in Florida, I would use them indoors over the cold spells when Phals are beginning to bud to keep them going. I also use CFL's indoors in Jan/Feb when I fear a frost on budding orchids.

I'd be thrilled with the gift and would find lots of use for the bulb!

Thanks everyone for the ideas and past experiences. I'll play around with it the next time I take cuttings or start seeds. I'm thinking that I might also like to try orchids based on your comments. So many ideas :)
