I don't know how hot it is where you live ,to have a bed in a sunroom is intolerable if this room gets full sun and no central air . placing the bed like this idea photo probably wont work unless its under a window .

I guess it would depend on the guest and how often they stay with you. If often and for long stays, something "permanent" like a curtain could work. The British use curtains this way to cover drafty doors or close off rooms. For short, infrequent visitors, how about several folding screens? It isn't really privacy in the sense of a closed door, but it is at least the semblance of a separation. You know your visitors best and knowing what they are ok with may help you choose.

Is the sun room not already have doors of some kind leading from the house into it? I rarely see sun rooms that are all open to the main house they get pretty hot and are best to be able to be closed off anyway IMO. But that said to have aguest room where there is no bathroom very close is not a good idea IMO . Maybe choose a different space for a guest room

We are downsizing to a very small house for retirement, the guests will be very infrequent. Our 2 extra bedrooms are 10x10 and have to accommodate desks and other essentials. With closets, windows and doors taking up valuable real estate, it was very hard to fit the daybed/trundle in those rooms and be able to open the trundle.

hearing your respnoses echos my good friend‘s opinion also. She wanted “her” bathroom close by. I will definitely reconsider. The sunroom will have a ceiling fan and the whole house is central air.

I know someone who opened up a similar sunroom to the home, but what a mistake.

Especially if direct sun ever comes through those windows.

In the summer, it's so hot in that room. Even worse, the rooms near there never feel nice & cool like they use, too. Even with a new ac unit & ceiling fans going constantly. Their cooling electric bill skyrocketed.

In the winter, the opposite. It's freezing. Space heaters needed. Again, electric bill to heat whole house went up.

I highly recommend closing heavy sun lit sunrooms off to the rest of home.

I would install hinged french doors with glass to let the light through while keeping most the sun's temperature out where it belongs.

Wow, had no idea how hot it got. I was planning on getting window treatments to close off the sun during very hot times of the day. Would that make any difference in the temperature?

Sun rooms are called sun rooms for a reason they get a lot of sun. If you plan on soloar shades you can certainly control the heat and UV rays and keep the view but I would close that space off with a nice set of french doors and if that is the only space for a guest room then add some drapes on the french door wall in the sunroom so guests can close them. I would look into a hideabed insted of the trundle to save space and it should work in one of the smaller rooms. I think 2 people could share an office in one of those spaces if you had to

I helped put up thick creme curtains with them to block out sun when it's high direct sun & it did help some, but unfortunately, truly is still not enough.

After experiencing this with them, I decided I would never do this in any of my future homes.

I love my sunroom & spend a lotof time out there. It does gets hot or cold depending on the weather. It feels great to walk back in to a nice comfortable home insulated temperature.
