Statement walls are very much a trend and tend to make a room look choppy. I'm afraid brown and teal is not a look that reads "now" and having just those two colors makes for a rather flat-looking color scheme. Softer, fresher colors might be something to consider. Can you please post pictures of your space?

What about statement art behind the sofa instead of an accent wall? I tend to agree with Ingrid that painting a wall a different color makes the room look choppy.
